The evolution of Plastic Materials
Year after year we have developed new plastic materials able to meet all specific customer’ requirements. Thanks to research and to the efforts of major multinational chemical companies it has been possible to have an increasingly wider and multifunctional range of plastic materials.
This has contributed to a general improvement linked to global wealth and technological development, but at the same time, it has caused some confusion in the definition of the different plastic materials, chemical denominations, standard marks and commercial names. This section has been created to give customers all the necessary information about choosing of the most suitable material able to meet their requirements.
LIMA can deal with generic or registered mark materials. If a client needs any registered mark articles, LIMA will stock up directly from the Company, which holds the above-mentioned trademark.
Depending on the characteristics, it is possible to add to the virgin material antistatic agents, conductive additives, colours, flexibilizers, adhesive agents, charges, reinforcing agents, blowing agents, antioxidants, antibacterial agents, reinforce fibres, retardants, stabilizing agents.
All of these substances are called compounds.
Among the more needed and used compounds we have bronze, glass, ceramic, carbo-graphite, coal, talc, stainless steel, molybdenum sulphide, graphite, calcium fluoride, mineral salts, mica, glass fibre, carbon fibre and polyester resin.

With the addition of compounds we can modify the features of the material, improving its performance in terms of workability, elasticity, ageing resistance, atmospheric resistance, hardness, resilience, rigidity, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, wear resistance, friction behaviour, dimensional stability, chemical resistance, water and air permeability.
Materials we master
This page was created to help customers to understand the complicated world of plastic materials. In each section dedicated to each group of materials will be listed all the chemical and commercial names, standard marks and variations until now used by LIMA and the chemical, physical and mechanical characteristics. Therefore, the client will find all the necessary information for choosing the material best adapted to their needs.
